Niiamar Felder |
Niiamar Felder captures the true meaning of high fashion. Through a mixture of soft silhouettes and artful flamboyance, he reintroduces the beauty and class of haute couture fashion.
Niiamar (Sudanese for "King") was born in 1983 in Jacksonville, FL. He discovered his love for artistry at an early age. While attending Douglas Anderson High School of the Performing Arts, the classically trained Tenor realized that his true gift and passion was in fashion design. He has worked meticulously to embrace his talent, drawing inspiration from paintings, architecture and historical glamour to construct timeless designs. Niiamar received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida A&M University (FAMU) in 2007.
Niiamar's original designs have been featured in several fashion shows, national promotional campaigns, and theater productions on the east coast. His list of accomplishments include a feature showing of his Spring '07 collection at New York’s Rebirth 2007!: Harlem Renaissance, the six-piece women's couture collection featured classic elegance, with ostrich feathers, jewels, bows, and subtle contours. The Spring'07 collection along with other notable pieces from the designer's collections were displayed at FAMU’s Fashion Exhibit in April 2007.
Inspired by the brilliance of Valentino and Coco Chanel, Niiamar avoids trends and fads in favor of a more enduring style that has become the signature of his coveted designs. Niiamar has received numerous accolades for his work, including: The Antoinette M. Humphries Volunteer of the Year Award, and Artist of the Month, for his work as costume designer for the Florida A&M University Essential Theatre. He was nominated to receive the notable Marvin Sims Design Fellowship (2006) in Costume Design awarded by the Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts. He also worked as a Design Assistant to renowned designer Kevan Hall in the summer of 2006. In addition to designing stunning collections each season, Niiamar's designs have been worn by Hollywood personalities to red carpet events, including the Academy Awards. He has served as Principal Costume Designer for the off Broadway productions of "The Doll Confessions" directed by Tony Award Winner Trezana Beverley and Cole Porter’s "Kiss Me Kate."
Niiamar credits God's inspiration for his visionary outlook and growing list of accomplishments in the world of fashion.
