Have you ever tried a new product with your own pre-conceived ideas of what it will be like? Then you try it only to learn it's not what you thought but 'better?' That's exactly my experience when I tasted Tequila Avión for the first time. As my fashionista fans know, I'm a classic vodka martini lover at heart but after having my first sip of the 'elevated margarita' made with Tequila Avión, I must admit I might now be a new convert to this brand of new pleasurable taste.
If you're an HBO 'Entourage' fan and never tried Tequila Avión, you are also probably a fan that initially questioned if the drink was real. The thing that you'll be caught off guard with though when you take your first sip of 'elevated margarita' made with Tequila Avión or any of their other premium brands is the taste. There are three types of Tequila Avión currently on the market which are:
- Avión Silver: The agave aroma is intense with herbal tinges of mint and rosemary, delicate hues of flowers and black pepper, hints of grapefruit and pineapple. It is crisp and clean, well balanced and exceptionally smooth.
- Avión Reposado: Aged 6 months, with a roasted agave presence, notes of cherry, pear, and peach, flower hues of rose petals and tinges of herbs. Oak aroma is elegant with hints of caramel and vanilla. It is extremely well balanced and sophisticated.
- Avión Anejo: Aged 2 years, with hints of vanilla, caramel, coconut and maple, intense tones of roasted agave, delicate tinges of mint and rosemary, fruity aromas of peach and cherry. It is extraordinarily harmonious, rich and exquisite.
The Avión Silver has become my favorite already and that's because of the fabulous 'Elevated Margarita' I was introduced to at a recent tasting event for Tequila Avión. I had the opportunity to meet Ken Austin the creator of this new star brand of tequilas, and his passion and love for the Tequila Avión brand is genuinely immense. Ken beams with pride as he shares his stories of the initial appearance of Tequila Avión on 'Entourage' but he also remembers the hard work of travelling to Mexico for the process and the years it took to perfect the taste that we now relish. Fans all over are embracing it too, Tequila Avión recently won five awards at the prestigious 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, including World's Best Tequila.
