Leading West Australian label Morrison showed at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week for the first time today at 2:30pm at the Cargo Theatre , Overseas Passenger Terminal. For Spring/ Summer 2012, Morrison focused on androgynous chic for their collection Prêt. Roomy suiting; oversized blazers and man style pants were seen alongside softly draped tops and dresses for a juxtaposition between female and male dress codes.
Each piece was constructed using Italian cottons, silks, soft leathers and relaxed linens resulting in a collection that ranged from relaxed to semi structured designs.
“The designs are wearable and relaxed with no tricks. There is a sense of confidence in the way the collection has been designed and styled. Our objective was to let the clothing speak for itself and make women feel empowered”, says designer Kylie Radford. The colour palette was derived from three main digital prints used in the collection. Earth stained colours of burnt orange, khaki and cream are teamed back with clinical whites resulting in a fresh and energetic summer collection. Radford also designed a range of silky dresses in earth stained digital prints to complement the collection. Respected for designing and producing their collections in-house, Morrison are a trusted and sought after Australian brand. The show was styled by Mark Vassallo. Morrison’s RAFW 2011/2012 show was proudly sponsored by Lancôme and REDKEN and nails by Essie.
